Discovery Center

This must be the place…

I rarely plan for activities on my days off, but the Discovery Times Square in NYC made it easy to get admission online on short notice. I decided the Star Wars and the Power of Costume exhibit would tide me over until The Force Awakens premiers the following weekend. The last time I saw actual artifacts from the films was The Power of Myth exhibit that stopped by in Brooklyn ages ago. This time around, the focused theme of costumes made the exhibit more compact. Yet there was plenty to see because the exhibit encompassed both original and prequel trilogies.

The Force is now with JJ Abrams to direct Star Wars Episode VII.
I wasn’t expecting progress to happen so quickly since the news of Disney acquiring Lucasfilm back around Halloween 2012. Even more surprising was the initial report of Abrams declining the director’s chair when early candidate names were bandied about.

Trekkers were usually bemoaning the opinion that Abrams, an avowed SW fan, brought too much of Star Wars (and lens flares) into the 2009 Star Trek movie; so I guess the SW universe is in safe hands as it now moves forward.

Wow, imagine that. Episode VII will happen in our lifetimes. Then VIII and IX… And that means more toys to come! 🙂
